Big government can no longer broadcast the fear that they have seeded and used to control a population with covid-19 restrictions or ANY other “national emergency .” Covid 19 is here to stay. It will always be a part of our human existence. How will government control the population once the narrative has passed? They became drunk with power to control their masses. They have dictated on how children shall be raised and educated. They see how fragile our global economy truly is. Melbourne is a product of government going too far in controlling how people choose to live.
From a gun control perspective, it is hard to believe if the agencies in Melbourne would be as aggressive if they knew that their citizens may be legally armed.
From an american perspective, I see that gun control is temporarily waned.I will never let my guard down as the politicians have readily noticed that our fragile global economy ruined the ammunition market. Unprecedented demand from first time gun owners and the usual list of characters combined with Russian products being removed from our available vendors has highlighted an opportunity to impact firearm ownership.
The likelihood of a comms blackout has been on the radar for quite sometime.

Won’t be as easy as it is in China. More importantly, the protests seem to be calming down and civilizing rather than ramping up and getting more out of hand. When the police showed up, the Aussies didn’t start throwing fire bombs like the “occupy” crowd. Bunch of people got hurt and seems like both sides went “woah…let’s take a breath and calm down.” They are still protesting but they are doing it like people.
Because of our gun ownership in America, as well as our cultural regards to authority, or more specifically, excessive authority, our government knows they have limited options when it comes to gun bans. At this point, they have to know that compliance will be very low, so they really only have the option of 1) Not even bothering, 2) Going all out, suspending the Constitution, and using the full force of the military to slaughter anyone who resists.
And there are an alarming number who actively choke the trouserchicken fantasizing about #2…

And as much as the dumpster fire “doubt it” crew really don’t put us in the best light, those are the guys who will throw down first. Might be classist of me, but I know from personal experience those who have less to lose are more willing to play the game.
Any member of “works with the general public” LE comes into regular contact with these individuals and they know it too so they will be less enthusiastic about kicking doors and rounding up folks than they will be about soft stopping a random individual for a federal agency.
There aren’t enough special group or federal guys to participate in any great round up and I’d wager even 50% of those guys know they would be SKS bait. They will of course come after individual offenders who actually did something like not register their arm brace SBR or people they can portray in a negative light as “very likely offenders, probably terrorists” but even that will be limited to small groups on a case by case basis.
And if it starts looking like people really are being put on trains and shipped to FEMA camps, the “nothing or not much to lose” crowd will go on the offensive and it will be ugly. A lot of the wrong people will get shot on both sides, the instigators on both sides who took things too far will mostly go unpunished and we will have a very new normal in this country and both sides will probably wish they could get a do over.
I’m hoping cooler heads prevail but one thing this country has a problem with is underestimating the capability or the resolve of people they are thinking about taking up arms against…and again I’m referring to both sides.
Lot’s of additional “better think about it first” considerations such as other countries that would be more than willing to come to our assistance during times of extreme civil unrest, anyone who thinks they are actually here to help, and again I’m talking to both sides, isn’t really a student of history. I also worry about extreme factionalization if we got into a legit shooting war with a government that overreached a bit too much.
We aren’t going to all come together under a “one for all” freedom banner. We are gonna be in a 7 ways shooting war with every group that ever burned down a city for any reason as well as those in government who made a power grab. Don’t think you are gonna be able to organize on the internet, alliances are going to be formed on a zip code basis. Fun to think about Red Dawn scenarios, but it’s gonna look more like Syria if it actually happens.
