"If you use medical marijuana, you must turn in your guns.
That’s according to the Honolulu Police Department, which has been sending out letters to legal users of medicinal weed that they must forfeit their weapons, as reported by multiple news organizations"
This should be a warning to all: be careful what recreational chemicals you indulge in and who knows about it. I’d also be careful about what prescriptions you take and who knows about it.
Swami predict: I give it five years before the 4473 asks you to list your prescriptions, or asks you if you take a prescription medication for certain conditions.
…and I have no doubt in my popo mind that every last crackhead, pill miller, cartelero, meth cooker, and average basic homeboy slinging his 8 ball will be stepping over themselves to comply.
When I saw the source I thought “WTF?” knowing that’s not happening in FL, and unlikely to ever happen in FL. Clicking on it, I see it’s socialist paradise of Hawaii. Similar was posted in the other thread on legalization discussions where this is focused on possible medical uses.
Having said that, this appears a perfect end run around the 2A for anti gun states as an easy way to grab guns. If I were in a state that had legal MM but was anti gun, I’d be hard pressed seeing that to use MM. Yet again, choosing between viable low toxicity treatment over a Cont Right, which sucks donkey nads and further illiterates their true intent
Everyone knows the one thing mass murderers have in common: they smoke the devil’s lettuce. The whole prescription psychotropic drug deal is just a coincidence.
So what else is illegal for pot smokers to do in HI. I know this is an end run on grabbing some guns, but legally it seems they have the right. From what I know in HI it illegal to possess a gun if you’re a prohibited person per fed law. Per fed law there is no legal way to have access to MJ, so it’s legal.
The question is what else is illegal for MJ users and is the state arbitrarily enforcing only certain sections of law.
It’s going to be interesting to see what happens. Does the state assume all people with MJ rx have bought and consumed? If you haven’t bought can you turn in your MJ card instead??
Lessons to be learned. GIVERNMENT IS NOT YOUR FRIEND AND WILL NEVER HAVEV YOUR BACK.
