The Marines have, once again, come out and said they’re sticking with the M27 and are not picking up the Army’s new M7. That isn’t just the Marines refusing to take the Army’s hand-me-downs. They have good reason to stick with the M27 based on their doctrine and unique needs. Things like ammunition, volume of fire, and logistics are all influencing the Marines’ decision to stick with the M27 and 5.56.
