Car-theft suspect choked to death after being caught by hulking ex-Marine

A would-be car thief picked the wrong ride to steal - and it cost him his life.
Yaosse Agbokou, 50, was choked to death when ex-Marine Daillard Paris caught him trying to steal his Nissan Altima in Queens Saturday night, police said.
Paris, 28, who is 6-feet-3 and weighs 240 pounds, was questioned by cops. But he was not charged in the death, which the medical examiner ruled a homicide caused by “compression of the neck.”
Witnesses said the hulking Paris grabbed Agbokou in a head-lock.
Paris’ mother said her son was defending himself outside their St. Albans home because Agbokou was “fighting and biting him.”
“He was in really bad shape. He was crying for help,” said Marie Paris, who called 911 just after 10 p.m. “It was either Daillard or the [other] guy.”
Cops first said Agbokou “became disoriented” and lost consciousness while cops were placing him in custody. They later denied arresting him.
Four witnesses said the cops did nothing improper, the NYPD said in a statement.
Agbokou, who lived nearby and worked as a cabbie, was taken unconscious to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Paris had just landed a job as a financial analyst and planned to sell the Altima to childhood friend Jonathan Francis.
A neighbor saw two men break into Paris’ snowbound car, which he had left running while he went into his home briefly.
“[Agbokou] was trying to drive off, but the car was stuck in the snow,” said Francis, who added that he had spoken to Paris. “He’s a good person who was mixed up in a messed-up situation.”
The NYPD referred the case to the Queens district attorney’s office, and a spokeswoman could not immediately say if Paris would be charged with a crime.
I’m 6’3" 230lbs and wouldn’t consider myself hulking… I hope the former Marine recovers from this incident quickly.
