Managed to strip the cross bolt on my EOTech

Well this is awesome! You guys should get a good laugh out of this one.

I managed to strip the hex head cross bolt on my 512 while trying to remove it. Freakin’ thing wouldn’t budge, at all. I don’t understand how I could’ve tightened it to the point where I couldn’t untighten it. It’s like it expanded in there, or seized up… I dunno, I’m at a loss for words right now. I didn’t use loctite or any other thread adhesives on the bolt.

So what should I do? I’ve got this thing semi-permanently attached to my upper now. On the other hand, I don’t question EOTech’s mount anymore. This baby’s not going anywhere for awhile. The hex head is definately more secure than the knurled weaver bolt.

Anyway, any suggestions on what I should do? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for your time…

Edit: I know what you all are thinking about me stripping the bolt. I didn’t sit there and keep trying to turn it after it slipped the first time. I’m pretty mechanically inclined and have been doing this for years. It was tight enough that when it initially slipped it chewed up all the teeth at once. I’ve always tightened it the same amount before and have never had a problem taking it off.

Left hand turn drill bit turned slowly, or a screw extractor…

Yeah the screw extractor is a good idea.

I emailed EOTech to see what they had to say, haven’t heard back yet. I’ve heard customer service isn’t their strong suit, so we’ll see. I highly doubt I’m the first person to have done this but I’m certain their other cases involved loctite. Actually, to be honest, now that I’ve slept on it I’m finding that it’s not as big of a deal as I originally thought it was. I know I’ll get it off eventually. It’s just more of a nuisance than anything as it sets back my other projects.
