Lets see some pics of bad-ass man caves or makeshift game rooms.
I know the “Better Halves” dont always allow such an amazing oasis due to they would never see some of us.
So lets see some pics of your setup. Whether its a pool table in a game room with clever little neon signs, guns or gun posters, a garage or treehouse with a “No girls allowed” sign.
Keg-er-aitors and pool tables, poker tables and fooseball etc.
I have a pretty cool setup, lookin for some ideas for upgrades.
I lease a small warehouse with several friends. Machinery to fab/build anything we want and plenty of toy/secret project storage away from the wives. A true man cave, because only men have access.
Coolest in-house man cave I ever saw was an old WWII vet I worked with. He had two urinals on the wall in his poker room because they didn’t trust each other enough to leave their hands sitting on the table when they had to piss. I always thought that was pretty kickass.
I built a 31 x 14 ft. room off the back of my house for myself.
L shaped desk, 56" dlp, 2 gun safes, wood stove, and one recliner. Sliding glass door looking out to the back field where my range is and where the deer play. Nascar diecasts and trinkets, my golf trophies and St. Louis Cardinals stuff on display. I have a small fold up plastic table I move around, it usually sits right here next to my desk chair. Use it to oil guns, put optics on and stuff when I want to be near the tv.
I partitioned 6 x 14 foot off on the end and put a bifold door in for access. My heat pump air handler is in there, along with another smaller gun safe. I put a workbench in there with a vise to work on guns and golf clubs, and also have my ammunition stored in there.
Since I’m the only one that comes down here most of the time it gets pretty messy.
I have a good sized cave myself, but at the moment it’s undergoing renovation an cleaning, and is not currently photogenic. But… I have a fireplace, a wood furnace, a good-sized workbench for handloading and whatnot, and I’m setting up a small workout area with a treadmill and a weight bench.
Nothing too special and small, 12 x 13, and actually feels like a cave at times. Easy to heat with a ceramic heater and I have a wall fan in the summer.
Suits my current “man operations” just fine.
Small TV and had a 1950’s frig for beers. Had the frig for 16 yrs but it died a couple of months ago and I replaced it with a gun safe.
I’ve got three different man caves depending on what I’m doing. All of which are actually a work in progress. For arts & crafts I’ve got the back section of the garage which I recently built a work bench for and hung some lighting:
I’m going to be hanging cabinets, installing a wash basin, running some more electrical and hanging the natural gas heater on the floor on the left side of the bench in that photo. Plenty more to do but at least I have my tools out and a place to use them to get other projects done. Tired of cutting 2x4’s on the tailgate of my truck with a circular saw and what not. Having the right tools and proper work space is critical.
Up next is the theater in my basement. It’s unfinished but I kind of like it that way because it stays nice and cool, winter or summer. It’s been a work in progress for some time now and I affectionately refer to it as Ghetto Theater and then it has a version number that goes up as I make upgrades. Recently I upgraded all the audio which was a major release change putting it at v2.0. Right now I think we’re at ‘Ghetto Theater v2.1’ or something like that. I’ve got a 100" screen (I’ve had a 136" ready to install for years but can’t bring myself to take down a perfectly good 100" screen ) and a HD projector. The audio is an Onkyo receiver running a 7.2ch setup with two 15" subs. I also built a ‘stadium style’ seating platform for the back row using an old waterbed platform that I covered and reinforced. When I finish that room it will actually have three rows but ‘just’ two for now which is plenty. I watch football, movies and play Call of Duty almost exclusively in this ‘cave’ and it’s perfect! Who needs drywall, paint and carpet?
…I thought I had a picture but I guess not. You’re not missing much.
Lastly is the future man cave… a vault/work bench. In a section of our basement under where we had a bump-out built there is about a 15x20 area that has three cement walls. The plan is to pour a 4th wall with a vault door or similar and then build gun racks and another work bench. This will be my reload/gunsmith/storage area for firearm related things. This is later down the road after these other caves are finished since I have a safe now and an area to do that sort of work already so I can’t justify turning attention there just yet. It would be nice to have a designated area for all that jazz however and would just be cool. Someday.
If only I had endless money these areas would already be done and perfect just the way I want them. Damn having to do the work myself when time/money permits.
