I didn’t know about the McClicky switch switch Luckily I have at least a couple MD3 and MD4’s already, but maybe it couldn’t hurt to get an MD2 or two.
However, I do have a couple new McClicky “hard press” rubber boots and these seem like they would help with light ND’s as well.
In my duty use case, I don’t really see a problem with light ND’s. It’s not like everyone doesn’t know we are already there from yelling “Police!” and then kicking the door, and then moving around with all our crap on and communicating with each other. Even at our quietest in special circumstances, you can easily just keep your finger away from your light switch.
I see your point - I just wanted to mention it as a possible sticking point. I have the ‘hardpress’ McClicky variant from Oveready in my 6Ps and they’re the only lights i have that’ll come on momentarily in my pocket when leaning on stuff or such. I just tossed it out there in case folks might care about it.
One of my switches (the oldest one) seems a little more amenable to the trick than the other two, but basically I twist the switch in just enough so you can press through the click and press hard to a momentary on. Sometimes I have to mess around with it a bit (rolling in and back out) to get it to work just right. Usually, that’s where I keep the switches set - near lock out, so its nearly impossible for the light to get activated if my gear shifts around in the truck.
To go to normal operation, I can give it a quick roll in and voilà its an easy momentary & click on - easy to do even in gloves.
