I doubt this would be making the news circuit given what has happened in Arizona, but it appears Maj. Richard Winters passed away.
If this a dupe, I do apologize, but a man like this shouldn’t be shuttered away to the back pages.

Thats a bummer it is one hell of a story.

So few of them would say much. My Dad and my two Uncles were all decorated D-Day combat veterans. Everything my Dad ever said about the war wouldn’t fill 2 pages. I know more from some of his buddies than he would ever say. Heck, I didn’t know one of my Uncles got the Silver Star until 5 years ago.
Thank God for Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers, for increasing awareness in the younger generations of just what heroes like Maj. Winters and his men accomplished.
They really did save the world.
