I doubt this would be making the news circuit given what has happened in Arizona, but it appears Maj. Richard Winters passed away.
If this a dupe, I do apologize, but a man like this shouldn’t be shuttered away to the back pages.
RIP good sir.

RIP good sir.
Thats a bummer it is one hell of a story.
Fair winds and following seas for a valiant warrior. He helped define the Airborne ethos and spirit.
Prayers sent for his family and friends.
Prayers sent along with deep gratitude, respect, and thanks.
Another American hero passes on. ![]()
RIP sir.
Hero for sure.
I am glad his story was told wish more of the stories from WWII would be taken down for prosperity before all the veterans pass.
We are diminished…
Peace be with you Major Winters.
Rest In Peace humble hero. What a great man.

When speaking to a group of West Point cadets in modern years Winters said, “The greatest reward you can have as a leader is the look of respect. The key to a successful combat leader is to earn respect not because of your rank but because you are a man”

God bless that man. America owes him and all men like him a great debt.
Smooth road and fair weather, Major Winters. You shall be missed.
RIP, and God Bless Major Winters.
RIP Maj Richard Winters.
So few WWII veterans are left.
Something about that generation is very special, and truly American.
We will be worse off without them.
RIP, we just lost a great hero.
R.I.P. Curahee!!!
Good night Sir. RIP.
So few of them would say much. My Dad and my two Uncles were all decorated D-Day combat veterans. Everything my Dad ever said about the war wouldn’t fill 2 pages. I know more from some of his buddies than he would ever say. Heck, I didn’t know one of my Uncles got the Silver Star until 5 years ago.
Thank God for Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers, for increasing awareness in the younger generations of just what heroes like Maj. Winters and his men accomplished.
They really did save the world.
RIP, Sir.
