Major PF 308 Load/Barrel Length

Putting a new barrel in the bench LR-308 and want to get it up for Heavy Metal. How short have some of y’all gone and barrel taper and still made major?

It’s a DPMS 24" bull (.920) that I’m thinking gets tapered down to .750". I’d like to get it down to 18", but PF matters more.

Rob and I are using 44.5 grns of VGT with a 155 grain A Max out of our 18" N6 barrels. 2.800" OAL .

150-155 seems to be the consensus and thank goodness out of an 18" barrel.

I’ll check out your barrels now (if I can just buy it cut and tapered…why not).
