For people who have been waiting for Magpul to release their new UBR, it is currently available on their website. Its preproduction, and is available in limited quantities. I’ve been using these “preproduction” models for awhile, and have found them to be high quality, and well laid out. There are several improvements over the initial UBR prototype that I’ve been using for the past year or so.
I know some people won’t want to buy a preproduction model, but I don’t see that as an issue for most who are familiar with the company.
I was able to get one of the real early preproduction CTRs. I’ve got newer, nicer looking CTRs laying around the Stick compound, but that beat up one still rides with me daily on my duty carbine.

I really didn’t give it much thought, I just went ahead and ordered it. I know it’s cutting into the funds for something else, but it should be worth it.
Forgive my ignorance, but I’m trying to understand what ROLE this UBR would fill that other excellent Magpul stocks do not… , besides looking bad a$$.
It seems uber-heavy duty for a 5.56 weapon (although it says it was really designed for larger calibers in an AR format), with shock absorption and all… It is also somewhat heavy (1.3 pounds)…
Can someone quickly explain the ROLE this stock will fill?
Stickers? I’m missing out on being able to slap Magpul stickers on cruisers?
I can tell IAD that its a sticker saying that I love all animals and they won’t touch me…
ETA- Note to any recruits or applicants, lying to IAD is generally considered bad, and I don’t recommend it, nor have I found them to have a sense of humor in most cases that have involved me.
