Magpul PRS stock on SPR

I have an 18 white oak rifle that is a great shooter. It has the original A2 stock which has been OK.

I was thinking about putting on the Magpul PRS STOCK. It looks solid and would seem to be a perfect addition, but i want to hear from anyone else that has been down this path , good or bad? I’d like to be able to adjust

I use this gun from mostly precision work with 69 grain SMK’s to train with and plink steel out to 500. Great gun to practice with when the shoulder tires of 308.

Any feedback appreciated.

I have a PRS on my GAP 308 AR10 and I would not have any other stock. With the ability to adjust to different lengths of pull depending on your attire and the cheek height in case of a scope change, this is the best stock going in my opinion. I know they cost some coin, but well worth it!

I have a PRS on my SPR and I think it works great. I went back and forth with an ACS and finally decided to go with the PRS.

I initially wanted to use the ACS because of weight as the PRS is quite a beast to lug around. If you are not going to be running around with your SPR you should be fine. I found that the extra weight and rifle length spring and buffer just made the gun feel much more solid when shooting prone or from a bench.

I feel like the cheek riser on the PRS is useless unless you have tall scope rings. I am using the Larue LT104 and the riser is pretty much pointless.

I initially had a PRS on my SPR. While I liked the ability to make adjustments, the additional weight was a bit much. I currently have an A2 stock on my SPR, and it has worked almost as well as the SPR. In the end, I’ll take the simplicity of the A2.

I’d definitely go with the PRS if a standard A1 or A2 doesn’t give you a good with your rifle.

I had a prs initially on my 18" 308 but the weight was much more substantial than I anticipated. I ended up switching it out for a MOE with a Larue RISR on top of it

GO FOR IT!!!
I have one one on my 20". Don’t be concerned about the weight, you can get used to it. The cheek riser and the adjustable buttstock is definitely a plus.

Personally, I have not had a much luck with the PRS rifles on MK12 builds. I’ve tried it and found that the cheek raiser is a little too far back for me (necessary to accommodate the charging handle). In addition, a true SPR build does not typically need a large optic with high rings. For example, the NF 2.5-10X32 in a LT104 is what sits on my MK12 build, and this does not need an adjustable cheek piece. Therefore, I found the PRS was a lot of extra weight for no real benefit over an ACS, SOPMOD, CTR, etc.

I do have one on a REPR which has worked well. However, keep in mind that the REPR’s design allows a .223/5.56 PRS to be used. This feature, coupled with the side-mounted charging handle, optimizes the geometry for use of the cheek raiser with larger optics. I have not tried a PRS on my OBR since the CTR + RISR works great.

Here’s my wannabe SPR with an ACS and a PRS

Sorry for the junky photo’s

I’ve got one on my 20" and love it

I have two. One on my .223 precision rifle and one on my .308 precision rifle. I really like them. Keep in mind that they are a little heavy. The weight doesn’t bother me. but it might be an issue to some.

I had one on my SPR clone built around a White Oak barrel and it was very nice. It’s heavier that the A2 for sure and I never had a use for the adjustable cheek riser, but it was a steady stock. IMO the extra weight helped balance the rifle quite a bit better than the A2 or any of the collapsing units available. Mine currently sports a UBR and it’s nose heavy. They are great stocks if you don’t mind the added weight.
