Once again, I come for info. I ordered and received my Magpul MBUS, however, it came with no instructions. No biggie but, I have a small package with 2 small pins in it. I assumed they were to lock in the front post from moving. I just wanted to make sure how to install them.
I just picked up some MBUS as well. Mine came w/ standar/flathead screws for mounting rather than the button head type as decscribed in the instructions and shown in the pics. Anybody know why these may have come this way?
Colo.TJ, I just bought a rear MBUS from Bravo Company and the mounting screw was a slotted head, like yours.
Personally, I kind of prefer the slotted head, since if Murphy shows up and you ever have to tighten the mount screw in the field, you can just use a multi-tool or improvised screwdriver instead of having to find an allen wrench of the correct size.
My MBUS’s as well came with flathead screws instead of allen bolts. I too think its better, always have change in the pockets to tighten em. Thanks again for the help guys.
yea my MBUS that came in yesterday has a flathead screw, my previous ones had allens
MBUS Gen2 fronts will have the detent system like most AR15 sights instead of putting a pin in.
The MBUS comes with a flat head shoulder bolt to help prevent over-tightening when mounting the sight. This was an inline change that was done a few months ago.
I have gotten a Gen1 MBUS front. It has the allen bolt and the roll pins instead of the detent. Is there a way to get a Gen2 or will the Gen1 suffice?
I am building a new upper.
