just got back from the sticks today, noticed magpul has a new website and is designing a motorcycle. ok? great, but one thing alot of us talked about was shooting gloves and hatred for some and how fast we go thru others. Yeah, Blackhawk and Oakley have some nice ones, but I think Magpul could really have a hit if they designed some gloves with good protection, good feel in the fingers and some thick leather in the palm. Anyone else good on this?
I think the glove market is a bit over saturated.

Because everyone seems to be doing the same basic concept. The new VTAC glove is a step forward with its special padding that stays soft until impacted.
Tactical gloves are often the last gloves to see innovation. Motorcycle gloves have them beat in many ways.

I’m sorry, but Mechanix gloves are NOT the answer. I’ve never been more underwhelmed with a pair of paw protectors.
I’ve used several different “high-end” gloves, that, quite plainly, don’t hold up.
I hate to say it, but the most durable of the gloves I’ve tried have been the BHI Solags.
I may just stick with cheap, $12.00 Stanley work gloves from Wal-Mart. At least when they shit the bed, I don’t feel it in my corn-blaster.
Don’t even get me started on high-dollar/no-ruggedness “tactical” gloves.
ETA: IraqNinja is right, motorcycle gloves have them beat in the rugged department. I need a glove with the durability of a motorcycle glove, with increased dexterity. I’ve got a pair of the original Icon TiMax gloves, that are still in awesome shape 7 years later. The stitching is impeccable. The durability is without question. I’ve taken them to several tailors who will not remove the thumb, index, and middle fingers, because they don’t believe they can do it. Otherwise I’d be in glove-heaven. I haven’t messed with the second generation of the TiMax gloves, but the originals have the main armour plate externally attached to the glove; this design eliminated the binding you get around your knuckles when making a fist, grasping something, etc. that you get with hard-knuckled gloves. In short, they are the cat’s ass.
Plenty of gloves on the market, most of them suck. They are either too expensive, don’t last, as tactile as a paper sack or a combination of the three. Unfortunately, designing gloves isn’t the easiest thing in the world, hence, the crappy gloves and getting them manufactured at a decent price from quality materials is almost as hard as getting the design right. I won’t buy a car from someone who makes airplanes, I don’t see myself buying gloves from someone who makes gun parts.

I think expectations are too high for most when it comes to gloves… Building a Glove is a lot like building a tank… too much armor… wont’ move, too little, won’t stand up to hard use… Your not going to get a good tactile feel and still have enough meat to withstand hard use…
Gloves are expendable items… if you used them, your going to wear them… just the way it is… Only so many ways to make a glove and only so many materials that you can use… I won’t pay more then $20 for a pair of gloves…
besides, Magpul will just sell the rights to there new wonder gloves and they will cost $200…
Agreed. Wear item and disposable. I keep quite a few pairs of nomex gloves around and toss them when they get holes in them.
Finally putting non-Newtonian fluids to work?
I try various gloves but seem to always go back to aviators. Best glove for my needs so far
I’d rather see Magpul make some AK mags and accessories then wasting their time and efforts on gloves or clothing.

Magpul is a company, not an individual. I’m all for Magpul getting involved with other manufacturers and pushing into new areas.
