Magpul Fixed MOE Stock

I have a quick question about the new magpul stock. I know it attached to an A1/A2 buffer receiver extension. Are these buffer tubes based on diameter? I.e. Mil-Spec/commercial lower diameters. I know the collapsible stocks have to match up but not sure about these types. It’s not explicitly stated on the magpul website or the item detail upon purchasing, but I just want to check before i order.

There is no mil-spec vs. commercial-spec issue with rifle receiver extensions. A1/A2 are the same size extension as well.

I’m looking at one of those myself, once they come out with the FDE version.

Nope, there is only one size. The A2 uses a spacer to give it a little more length, you won’t need a spacer for the MOE stock.

Here are a few pics I have laying around…

A few more pictures…

This is wrong. Although there ARE no size differences, or at least there shouldn’t be size differences on an aftermarket RE… there are still many of the same material considerations when selecting an RE.

In short, go to brownells and buy a REAL COLT RE if you want the strongest part.

These are in stock for those interested!

That looks so cool. Almost makes me want to buy a rifle length AR.

I must not have caught it, are these the A1 length or the A2 length? I prefer the A1 length for my tactical rifles and the A2 length for my precision rifle. I know it’s only 5/8 of an inch. kwg

All of the above are on 16" weapons…

These are A1 in length if I remember correctly. I may grab one to try.

Anyone know if those stupid QD things can be removed, drilled out, melted down and/or destroyed? I need a paracord attachment point and the loop is too far forward of the toe of the stock.

I’m hard pressed to buy anything that has a QD attachment point on it. But if I can drill them out… maybe.

Am I the only one that thinks these things look fuck ugly??

There’s a certain beauty in fugly. Fashionably unfashionable as it were.

Sort of like a female’s reasoning behind “its so ugly its cute” then? Lol

Its closer to A2 than it is A1 in length.

It doesn’t come with QD, so you are safe.

Mine came in the mail today…its shorter than I imagined it would be…thought id try it out while I wait for an a5 tube to come back in stock somewhere…

I have the brownells vise block set on the way, so I hope to get it put together this weekend for a range trip Monday.

That has to be the first time I’ve heard anyone not like QD attachment points. What’s there not to like?

I assume they will be making them in OD green at some point in the future. I just want them to be functional. I don’t care if they are fugly if they are functional. kwg

I think they said the other colors will be out within a month.

It’s a mechanical solution with too many moving, breakable, rustable parts.

I’ve seen a guy pick up his weapon and ask “how did that happen?” while looking at the sling dangling. And another guy here flat dumped his gun on the ground because of that junk. Completely unacceptable.
