Magpul Dynamics will conduct a 2 Day Basic Precision Rifle Course
on June 15 - 16, 2010 at the Pueblo West Sportsman’s Association Range (PWSA) in Pueblo West, Colorado.

Non-PWSA Members $650.00 + ($25 per day) range fee = $50.00 (all range fees go directly to the PWSA range)
Note that the range fee (for non-PWSA members) will be collected on the first day of class (June 15, 2010) at the range by PWSA personnel.

Course Description
This course is entry-level class, designed for beginners or shooters that require a proficiency course in the basic fundementals of precision shooting. The class covers:
-Equipment choice and familiarization
-Fundamentals of precision marksmanship
-Exterior ballistics
-Zero out to weapons capability
-Doping, mil holds
-Range estimation
-Effective shooting positions
-Engaging multiple targets
-Moving targets
-Known and unknown distance shooting

-Precision scoped rifle: bolt action or semi-auto
-Minimum capability is to shoot 1 MOA at 100 yards
-Quality Glass
-Bi-pod, and or improvised rest

-Wind/Weather Meter (optional but recommended)

Kind of a question for Magpul (or whoever will teach the class), are 7.62 bolt actions preferred? Are semi-autos in 7.62 or 5.56 OK?
From the mention of moving and multiple targets, I would take it that the class is a practical guide to long range shooting rather than a total focus on the minuta of precision shooting?
For this class, what would be the preferred optic power range?
Boy this leaves a lot of possible equipment decisions open. I wonder if an SPR type rig in 5.56 would be a good decision, or a bolt gun in .308, or a semi .308 SASS type gun.

I don’t know yet Brother. If I run a bolt gun I’ll run either my Remington 700 LTR (.308) or my Accuracy International Artic Warfare (.308)
I have been tossing around the idea of using my run and gun competition AR for this class because I have a LEO Only 3 gun match at the same range 2 weeks after this class and they usually have a couple long range stages set up. Running my competition AR will be dependant on me having a Nightforce 2.5-10x32 and enough 75 grain Black Hills for the class and the match.
I’m interested in who all from m4c is going. I am seriously considering signing up. I only have 2 weeks of leave but this looks like a great way to spend a couple of days!
I’m planning on being there. Took the carbine class this last weekend and it was WINDY. 75F degrees in full sun and I’m wearing a long sleeve black Undarmour and I was chilled at times it was sooo windy. Costa said he was thinking about bringing his SASS and a 300WinMag to the Precision Class.
I think we will all be comfortable with calling the wind by the end of the class since it looks like the range at PWSA is N-S and the wind was E-W.
Is someone going to have a chronograph at the class? I’d be nice to be able to get some data so I can work up some tables.
What about slings? I have an old leather one one from shooting High power and I have MS2 and VTAC slings. What would be the appropriate sling for a SPR/SASS type rifle.
If I sign up, I’m debating on a Mk14mod1, HK91 SG1, M24 300winmag or my Mk12 mod1. I’d like to bring the 91 but its not a consistent sub-moa at 100 gun. The Mk12 is a laser, but not sure what the max range to targets is going to be. I’m running an S&B 10x precision marksman on the SG1 now and the PSG1 trigger group, so I’m hoping that will help.
I would like to be better with the 91–I’m not sure if its me or the rifle. I’d hate to sign up for the class and be the doucher due to rifle or lack fo skill with said rifle.
The 300 and mk14 are also a lasers, but I’m not sure I want to put 400rounds through the 300.
I have a lot of BH77SMK for the 5.56 which is also a factor in the decsion.
I will bring my CED Chrono with IR screens. Be warned, you shoot it, you buy it.
The max range at PWSA is 425 yards.
I will be shooting my 300 Whisper or my 223 AI. It is a switch barrel gun so making a decision is tough. If the wind is ugly (shocker) I will bring my AIAW in 243.
If we use some of my steel we will have a MGM IPSC hostage, flag target, and IPSC Precision Rifle targets.
