How the fuck are you supposed to get rail covers on the side rails with this thing mounted?
I have a DD Omega Lite; after installing the AFG I installed XTMs on the side, just took a little extra effort to get them to snap in place.
Care to tell us what type of rail you’re using?
It’s a LMT MRP, and I’m trying to get TangoDown covers on the sides. There appears to be NO room to slip on any kind of a rail cover. I’ve tried KAC and some ladder covers as well.
you can get rail covers on with the AFG with some rails, and not others. just depends on the width/height of the handguard. the MRP is narrow (2") so the side rails don’t stand out far enough. same thing with the LaRue handguards.
you just have to go without rail covers on yours, or trim the sides of the AFG to provide clearance, as some have done.

I’m curious, though. Why would anyone go without rail covers? Especially on a monolithic upper where really buggering a rail section means it’s probably permanently fucked up? And if you actually shoot your weapon hard enough to get it hot, wouldn’t it be useful to be able to touch it on a normal grasping area without gloves with no discomfort or burns?
Oh, and there’s heat from the sun, too, depending on one’s area.

I just got an AFG yesterday for my BCM middy. It has a Daniel Defense Omega 9.0 with Magpul XT panels and it almost fits perfectly. The XT panels are flexible enough to stay on while the AFG is installed.
works fine with Daniel Defense Rails, however Larue rails have interference because the bottom rail of Larue is 1/4" higher than DDs
I use the “ladder type” rail covers. They are much easier to trim as well.
my DD Omega X will not work with the AFG and XTM rail covers.
LaRue rail here, had to get creative with a Dremel to make it fit the XTMs…
I got it to fit with the TD rail covers. Lot of dremeling, but it fits.
