In trade I recently received five packages of these Enhanced Followers (MAG110-FOLGR). I have some brand new USGI mags with the green followers. Am I wasting my time to change out the green followers for these Magpul followers? Will I see any increased reliability?
How reliable are the mags now? If they are 100%, how could you increase that?
FWIW, I used to only change out the followers on problem magazines, and I’d change the spring and the follower at the same time. This was mostly on old “pre-ban” magazines during the ban and I needed to keep what I had running.
I have also changed out the followers on perfectly good brand-new magazines to the orange for better visibility in the gun, but not for reliability issues.
These are totally new in wrapper magazines, so have no reliability issues yet.
Back in the 1990s I also refurbished USGI mags with new springs, replaced the black follower and switched to green, and coated with PermaSlik G. Based on the responses, perhaps these should be saved for future issues, if any.
I’d change 'em.
I didn’t have too many problems with the green followers, but I swapped 'em all out for enhanced followers 2005-ish just to be safe and haven’t had hardly any mag related issues since.
I changed mine out on the only 10 CProd Mags I owned (Bought a few years ago). Well, because they were CProds! The green followers stuck on occasion and were not reliable. They run perfectly now. The OD Magpul followers were only around a buck a piece and gave me reliability and piece of mind.
