I recently bought a new ACS-L and started to install it. Where, or how does the QD cup mount? The instructions don’t say and Magpuls website is no help. I prefer the QD’s and also prefer the stock mount vs. receiver mount. Thanks.
The QD socket mounts in the hole just aft of the adjustment lever.

I really dig those stocks, but the QD mount SUCKS. I mean WTF were they thinking? Its a bit confusing , especially after all the other great product they make.
You tighten the screw and it press fits in.
Press fits? It still sticks out 3/4" from the stock body. I like the stock but Papabear is right about this. It appears that I could drill out about .50" on my drill press and also shorten the screw accordingly and the whole thing would fit and have a much smaller non snagging footprint. The only downside would be loosing the ability to move it from side to side in other words being a lefty I would have it pretty much forever. I wonder why they didn’t put in something like on the CTR?
FWIW I have that stock and use that screw on QD sling attachment point. I recently spent 15 +/- days and nights stomping all over the palmetto scrub cypress swamps going up and down tree stands in and out of blinds as well as getting off and on a four wheeler several dozen times and it never snagged or caused any issues for me. Just my experience, BTW I am a “lefty” as well.
Gary, I’ll try it out and it will probably work fine, it’s just fugly! It doesn’t seem nearly as well engineered and refined as what I’m used to from Magpul.
Oh I :agree: it certainly is fugly(I really like the stock itself though) and I am thinking that it was added as an after thought. Perhaps they figured with the ACS-L stock most people were going to go as light as possible and would be using the molded in slot for sling attachment(who knows). Mine came as part of a package from PSA as part of their ACS-L lower build kit($149.99 Daily Deal)and is on a PSA Pencil Premium mid length upper with MOE hand guards. With a Magpul 20rd mag it seems too light to be true. It is quickly becoming my favorite carbine for feral hogs armadillos and coyotes<-no closed season or bag limit on private property:cool:.
