Magnified optics question...

I’m relatively new to magnified optics so I have a question regarding zero. I set the power ring of my Weaver V3 to 3x and zero’ed at 50yards. Fine – I had a very tight group as to be expected from a properly operating Bushmaster 20" V -Match. Then I dialed the power setting to 1x and fired three shots and observed a shift in POI – its now 1" high. Hmmm … What gives?

Is this normal with all variable power scopes? Or is this Weaver screwed up?

Thanks for any info…

HLD…

Well I called Mead/Weaver and they said it definitely should not do that. So its off to the return line. They said they’ll replace it.

Thats not good news. I have the exact same scope in my basement that I need to get mounted up and zeroed. I’m glad Weaver is taking care of it for you.

A little off topic: What scope base and rings are you using with that optic?
