I have some C Products 30 rounders with orange non-tilt followers, and while I know that C Products make some great magazines, I’ve been having trouble with mine. The followers like to get stuck from time to time, creating slack in the stack of rounds and causing them to spill out if held upside down. They also cause malfunctions if they do this while loaded in my carbine. I just got these not long ago from a gun show, and they haven’t seen much use, so maybe it’s because the insides haven’t been lubricated? Whatever the cause, it makes me uneasy knowing that something could go wrong at any moment, and I would be stuck with magazines that could malfunction and cost me my life.
Are there any possible solutions for this? Keep in mind that I’m in Fail York, and that getting like-new 30 rounders isn’t so easy for me.
Return them, sell the new ones to the Cprod fanboys on TOS, take money and buy a better product. With way better alternatives out there for alum mags, with Okay and NHMTG mags for less than $10.00, I wouldn’t even consider CProds. I owned 10 and they were jam-o-matics, even after rebuilding them. Pmags are plentiful and cheap, less than 12 bucks for the older gens. Shop around and save the frustration.
I don’t think returning them is an option for me. As far as I can tell, these C-Product mags were brought in through NY as rebuild kits. I don’t know what would happen if someone from NY were to return new-looking 30 round magazines. I suppose what I could do is buy some USGI mags, but I’ve already spent close to $100 on these things. Pmags are absolutely out of the question as all of them are post-ban, and even if I got them as rebuild kits, I would still get harassed by range masters and the police just because of how modern they look.
What I don’t understand is that I bought them after receiving feedback from other forums saying that C-Product mags were not only good, but some of the best mags out there. Did I get trolled or something?
You’ve been led a strayed by folks who don’t train or use them (quality mags) as often as members on this forum does. I wouldn’t go looking for any more info from that forum if I were you. Since you’re not in NY, what post ban state are you in?

You could try to take a nail file to the sides and take off some burrs if any. Or a little bit on the legs of the followers to make them a little thinner. You could also take the mags apart and check for burrs inside the mag from the welds. Most mags are dry film lubricated on the inside so I think the best thing is to work on the followers.
I am in NY state. My first post even has a clear statement at the end.
Anyway, I looked at the magazines and the ones that have sticking followers all have burrs on certain spot welds. This is what the followers have been catching on. So, I took a bastard file and ground away these burrs. I then took a cleaning rod and worked the followers up and down several dozens of times to make sure that the followers were moving smoothly, and they are. It looks like I fixed them, but I won’t know for sure until I take them to the range and use them again. From now on, I’ll stick with pre-ban GI mags.
As for that other forum I took advice from, I’ll give you a hint since I don’t know if I can mention a competing forum: it’s bigger than this one, and it’s named after the AR 15 platform.
Clear only to people familiar with your area. Didn’t know where Fail York was (never heard of it actually) and your next post stated they came “through” New York. Looks like you found and dealt with the issues, so hopefully, they will be problem free going forward.
I had a problem too with CProducts mags. Replaced the orange follower with a Magpul follower and before reassembling, gave the spring a good coat of Permaslik G. They run fine now.
Ok, here’s an update. These C-Products mags seem to run fine now, but I’m keeping them strictly as range mags. I’ve since replaced them with NHMTG GI mags for home/self defense, and put the C-Products anti-tilt followers in them. These GI mags are, without a doubt, the best mags I’ve used so far.
