M4 comparative testing

Is this really going to prove anything that isn’t already known?

The upcoming comparative dust test at Aberdeen will pit the M4 against the Heckler & Koch 416, the H&K XM8 and FNH USA’s Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle, also known as SCAR.

M4

HK 416

HK SM8

FN SCAR

This is in response to the M4 performing badly in recent particulate testing. It was originally envisaged to encompass up to 30 weapons and lead to a competitive bid for a new rifle in about 12 months. The army have pared it down to the weapons listed above but I understand that some excluded domestic manufacturers are protesting.

30? Jesus. Are there even 30 different designs to test?

It was to allow for variations on a theme - different barrel lengths - as well as manufacturers etc although it looks like they are settling on 14.5".

Not to mention that the government probably looked at some of these companys and knew that they would not be able to handle producing that large a number of weapons IF they did get the contract. Why would they waste their time on a company like “Company X,” who no doubt puts out a great rifle, but if given the contract, would never be able to produce the volume.

The SCAR is sick. I want one. Wouldnt mind a 416 either.
