M4-2000 on a 10/22??

Hey Guys!

I’ve got the paperwork for my M4-2000 sent off last week. I’ll be running it on my 10.5" SBR with a Brakeout and on my 16" Middy with Blackout.

Making these plans got me to thinking about the possibility of running it on my 10/22 too. I’ll have to get a new barrel, which I had been considering anyway. Looking at a Tac-Sol threaded barrel and fitting it with another Blackout.

Any issues with running the M42K on a 10/22? I know that .22lr is dirty, but the 10/22 won’t get a lot of time with the suppressor. Any barrels I should consider instead of the Tac-Sol?

Your experiences/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

I was thinking of doing the same, but someone told me that it would be really front heavy on a 10/22 a.d that the lead could be an issue. I think it would be fine though!

I’d be plinking off a bench with it, or maybe occassionally dispatching a squirrel or rabbit in the garden. Weight shouldn’t be a big deal.

What I’ve heard is you don’t want your sealed 5.56mm can to fill up with the crud from a .22 LR.

Which will happen, I think you’re probably doing yourself a disservice.

That being said you could do it, I just don’t think you should.

22lr will fill up a suppressor with lead particles/particulate. Not good with cans that don’t have that much extra volume to begin with.

I advise against it.

I agree why make a potential 1k dollar mistake when. 22 cans can be had for less than $400?

Sounds like that’s a big negatory on running the M42K on the 10/22.

Thanks for the info!

I had hoped to do it too, back in 2005-06, but had several 07/02’s show me their 22lr cans and how much crap was in them. I’ve seen several comparisons online of new 22lr cans, and used 22lr cans with known round counts. The weight gain is pretty staggering.

22lr is some the nastiest ammo you’ll ever shoot.

I just sent off the paper work as well for a M42K, and a Colt AR15 RR.
I am getting a .22 upper for it soon I hope, so I looked into putting the M42K on the .22 upper tell I read up on it as well.

I do have the Gemtech OutBack II an love it, but it is not rated for Full Auto. I got the OutBack II for my Walther P22 and it is great. I have put it on a friends Ruger 10/22 and it is great with Sub-sonic ammo.

I will be going to a Silencer Shoot here in OKLA next month to look at a Gemtech G5-22 Silencer. Then I will make up my mind about getting one more .22 can!!!

Look at the Silencerco Sparrow. I love mine.

I have a Tactical Solutions SBX barrel and a SWR Spectre for my 10/22 and it’s a pretty slick setup. The SBX barrel is a non NFA item but only adds a inch when mounting your can. Adding a polymer buffer will help silence the gun, and a bolt lock will make it ultra quiet (and single shot).
