M1A stock issue

Well, maybe you can all help me out. I purchased a walnut “Big Red” stock to install my SA M1A (9k serial number range. And yes it has a “shelf” behind the right receiver leg but as you can see, it’s not even a factor. Any help would be appreciated.

You may have to use a little downward pressure to seat the action in the stock, but that is a good thing. It may be that the stock liner is a little narrow where the receiver legs fit. A tight fit is always better than a loose fit.

The “shelf” is cut to accommodate the connector rod and selector of a M-14. It’s only cosmetic and won’t be an issue.

Put a dab of grease between the stock ferrule and barrel band, so the action/barrel assembly comes to rest in the same place after every shot.

Thanks for the heads up. I actually am kind of embarrassed because it was right in front of me as you can see, there is some excess material on the “big red” stock.

After that, it dropped right in (with some force). However, the installation of the Sparrow Hawk dummy selector was another thing. Take my advice, pay someone to do it, or drink some bourbon.

Let us know how it shoots.
