M14 / M1A with an Aimpoint mounted...

Does anyone have a pic of their M14 / M1A with an Aimpoint mounted? I was thinking of an SEI rail mount and Aimpoint, but for the optic mount wouldn’t the LaRue be too high? What about this KAC mount: p/n 99430, second one from the left around the middle of the page:

KAC scope bases

The lowest and best mount for co-witness on a M1a/M14 is the UltiMak with allows for co-witness with a T1/H1 Aimpoint.

+1 on the UltiMAK

Anyone have experiecne with the A.R.M.S. #22M68 30mm X-wide Throw Lever Ring for all Comp series sights?

I would skip that mount.

Go to UltiMAK’s site and look under their optics and accessories. There are a couple of very simple, very low 30mm mounts. I would use those. The new Aimpoints have built-in mounts that sit very low. I am a huge fan of the Micro T-1.

Thekatar,

Greetings. Does the ultimak add much weight compared to an SEI mount?

Not enough to out weight the quality. The Ultimak mount is a top shelf piece of kit. For M14 M1A mounting it’s the only way to go.

And it’s the only one that I know of that will give you a co-witness

Thanks. I saw your pics in the Aimpoint Micro primary optic thread.

Another +1 to the Ultimak mount. Good piece of kit

Now that is bad-ass.

03humpalot,

Can you set your Aimpoint dot on the top of the front sight, cowitness with your setup? Also, is that one of those low 30mm mounts from Ultimak’s web site - and any problems holding zero?

Another thing I forgot to mention, the increased size of the Ultimak mount dissipates heat better than the SA mount. The SA mount might as well be a heat sink. We have fielded the question of heat on the Aimpoint, and our testing shows no problems on either mounts, but some lesser quality sights are more susceptible to damage from the heat.

Roger dude it cowitnesses.
Its an Aimpoint brand Low ring, and no issues with zero retention so far(been mounted since september with a few hundred rounds through it,nothing earth shattering round count wise).

I put 100 rounds through it as fast as i could acquire a sight picture for each shot and then immediately cheked point of impact at the 100 yard line(fired prone over sandbags). Point of impact was slightly over 1MOA higher than zero.

Good enough for Gub’mint work;)
