M&P15-22 Charging Handle Question

I have not had the chance to take apart an M&P15-22 yet, but from photos it looks like it uses a non-standard charging handle to actuate the .22LR bolt. I was thinking about getting one as a training gun and for my son. My issues is that I use an Ambi charging handle on all my ARs because I’m left handed and would want the same thing on the .22LR version. Does anyone know if they will accept aftermarket charging handles?

I assume ambi safeties and the Norgon left hand mag release will without issue? If anyone would confirm that too, I’d appreciate it.

If anyone has a link to a detailed writeup on these I’d appreciate that as well.

The charging handle on a 15-22 is only about 3 1/2 inches long, only about half that of a standard CH.

And it is made out of plastic too.

Thanks. I just found it on Weapons’s Evolution. Looks like I’ll be going with a CMMG in order to be able to make it fully ambi…
