M&P Roll Pin Problems

I have had both of my roll pins(on the frame) move on me on my M&P9.I will replace them, but want to know if other M&P owners are haveing the same problems. Also this pistol was new,its about 1 month old now and has 1500 rounds through it.

Which pins and where did the go?

The roll pins on the frame(front and rear)

And which way are they moving?

I haven’t seen this on mine.

(This pistol being in my hand pointed down range)The front pin was moveing to the left,I think the rear pin was moveing to the right.

Did the front pin stop moving? It’s suppose to stick out a little to the left to act as a stop for the take down lever. (I’ll try and find the picture)

I haven’t seen many reports of the rear pin moving. Is your gun a Rev N? Look on the inside of the dust cover.

Right, i know the front pin acts like a stop for the take down lever, but it was moveing more, and more, to the left. The rear was moveing too.As i checked both pins location when it was new before i took it too the range for the first time.

I wouldn’t panic yet. Get some more rounds through it and see if they settle in and stop. If not call S&W and send it back. They usually turn them around in a week and they’ll cover shipping both ways. You can’t beat that.

Me either. Early on in my Range Report I thought mine was moving but it turned out that it wasn’t. But there have been some people on mp-pistol.com report that theirs did drift to one side or the other.

Naaa, I dont panic about little things like this anymore… 2 kids broke me of that:D  . I was going to put more rounds down range and see if they move again. If they do move again, i was going to call smith and see if they can send the pins to me rather then me sending the pistol back to them. If they will let me do that and not want to look at the pistol themselves.

Definitely send it back if they are moving. The problem is not likely to be with the pins, but with the receiver.

Keep us posted okay?

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Roger that.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Will do.

Also, Thanks to all for your help and info.

Out of 6, I havent had that issue at all.

Its just my luck ;) :D ,we could have a 100 new Colt 6920's on a table and i would pick the only lemon of the bunch.:D

The front roll pin on my M&P9 is walking just like yours, but the back one has never moved. It’s been doing that since new and I have around 1000 rounds through it. I’ve found if I get a little too enthusiastic with the gun oil it happens sooner. I just gently tap it back in with the plastic end/handle of a screwdriver until it’s flush. I’m no firearms expert, but IMHO, no harm, no foul…

Do a search on www.mp-pistol.com, I think we are not the only two out there. (No offense intended to m4carbine.net)

Here’s a few I found pretty quickly…

Have not experienced this, was not discussed by S&W in the armorers course (like other known issues) and have not heard any complaining from customers that I have sold M&P’s too.
