The original Melonite finish on my slide rusted just sitting in my safe, so I sent the slide to Weapon Works LLC to have it refinished in Multicam Black Cerakote. I think it turned out well, they do great work.
Thanks!

That looks more than decent. Very well done.
Sent from 80ms in the future
That looks good. Put a GoldenRod dehumidifier in your safe to avoid rust if you don’t already have one.
Thanks guys. Yeah, I think more thn anything, the type of case I has it in drew the moisture.
The gun looks great. Now do something about that avatar please.
LOL! Thanks
I second that…
I have long thought about rattle canning my pistol. It now wears well worn black cerakote with streaks of silver steel showing through. I think a carelessly applied patchwork of OD green and FDE would look cooler…
Why not send the slide off for a sand blast and another finish? Plenty of reputable shops doing that work for next to nothing these days.
OP, your shop did a great job! Very subtle, exactly as MCB should be.
Your pistol looks good. Hope you have it better than I did with Cerakote. I had the slide on my CZ SP01 done. Within 6 months it looked like crap. I decided to send the slide and barrel off to have it hard chromed, they did a great job and it was $120. I thought that was a bargain.
Thank you sir!
I wonder if whoever applied the Cerakote didn’t prep it correctly? Weapon Works did a full Cerakote job on my duty AR over 2 years ago and it’s held up great.
They probably didn’t, but I didn’t want to go through the hassle of getting them to try again.
I get it, you can’t go wrong with hard chrome though.
Yeah, I was really happy when I got it back. It was beautiful. I’ve done some holster work and dry firing with it, but need to do more…see how it’s dealing with the scuffing.
Looks great Trooper. Please keep us posted on how well it holds up.
Good luck with the humidity issue. That would be my top priority.
You are right of course, however I think there is a certain charm to an uglya$$ paint job… There are expensive ways to get “battle worn” and there are cheap ways…
I was just at a state level pistol match and many competitors had guns and holsters with clothing all color coordinated, that has zero appeal to me. I’m glad they are doing it if it gets more people into the shooting sports… I can have a purple gun and a purple holster with purple highlights in my outfit…
Thanks!
