Just brought home an internet-ordered M&P9c today…was supposed to be devoid of the mag disconnect safety and the lawyer lock but long story short I’m home with it, it’s mine, and it has both. I promptly found the info on removing both “options”, have a couple of questions I didn’t find the answer to though:
- Re: the internal lock removal, is part 22 in this Brownell’s schematic the plug that comes installed on non-IL M&Ps? If so, awesome, I’d like to plug the hole in the frame.

- I didn’t realize until I had the whole thing taken apart that a spring would need to be improvised to keep the sear disconnect lever in place after removing the mag disconnect. I ended up cutting down the spring from the internal lock…I see that Dan Burwell mentioned using a 1911 mag release spring; is the factory part (spring I assume) that comes on the non-mag safety models available? It looks to be part of subassy 25 (the sear block) which is not available and not broken out any further.
I know that neither of these two questions have to be answered, I’m sure the pistol will run fine, but for my own reasons I’d like to have the gun be as close to stock for a non-IL/MS gun as possible.

ETA: Of course right after I did all of this, I went out to the mailbox and found an envelope from Randy Lee…Murphy strikes again. At least I’m becoming proficient in disassembling the M&P; really not a whole lot more involved than a Glock. The Apex sear seems quite an improvement so far (in dryfire, of course)…
