M&P, feel of safety?

Although I have to get to a range to feel up the M&P with safety myself to get my own personal opinion.

How does the manual safety of the M&P feel compared to that of the 1911? Is it in a good/quick access location? Can it be ridden comfortably with thumb on top? Is the on/off positive?

Somewhat similar, but the M&P backstrap is higher and wider.

Yes.

Yes.

Is the on/off positive?
Yes, but not as stiff as a 1911.
