M&P Armorer's Course (Apex Tac/OpSpec Training)

Operation Specific Training is proud to announce, in conjunction with Apex Tactical Specialties, Inc., the M&P Armorer’s Course.
You’ll walk away from this course with a sound understanding of how the S&W M&P is built and how to improve upon its revolutionary design.

Here are the details:

Who: Operation Specific Training will be hosting Randy Lee and Scott Folk of Apex Tactical Specialties, Inc.

What:
The M&P Armorers course is a 10 hour one day class consisting of 2 modules. The first module consists of the mechanical operation of the M&P series pistols, its assemblies/subassemblies and their interactions during normal function. The student will become familiar with disassembly and reassembly of the pistol as well as troubleshooting common problems seen in the field. Further, students will have the opportunity to learn about and install performance parts from Apex Tactical Specialties, Inc. Also covered are any updates, revisions or design changes that have been implemented by the factory into the current product line pistols.
The second module will be highlights from our Practical Fundamentals course. This live fire portion will provide the student with a better understanding of the trigger prep method and how this type of refined trigger control can take advantage of the benefits afforded by the Apex trigger components that were integrated into the pistols in module 1.
Other topics covered are:
• The draw

Holy cow, I’m glad I do some “archival” thread reading every now and again.

Keenly interested in this…

Would this result in a recognized certification? Meaning, if ya get a cert, is it a “Hey, you showed up!” cert or a “Hey, you’ve learned enough to be recognized by all as an armorer for this type of pistol!”?

No drama if it’s the former of the two; I’d still attend, schedule and an available seat permitting.

The student will be certified to install and troubleshoot Apex components and the content will address operating theory, the design of the interrelated assemblies, weaknesses in the system and what Smith has done to improve the product line, detail stripping and inspection/reassembly etc.

This isn’t an S&W certified factory armorers course. However, the content will be comprehensive and geared towards LE applications. As you may know, Randy and Co. are a wealth of knowledge. I hope that addresses your question.

Gotcha. As I said, cert or no, I’m interested.

That said, I’d be lying if I’m of the mind that a little something-something to pad the resume isn’t a bad idea from time to time.

I need to be able to plan ahead what exactly what I’m going to lie about at my next interview…

Range change - Address and info updated in OP and still in the Phoenix area (Closer to the Airport than the original range)

Registration is now open to everyone

bump

Per Randy,
We will cover drop in and semi drop in barrel fitting, and discuss the proper way to fit match/target barrels. That way when Bar-Sto is producing them, you will understand the fitting process.

Here’s a flier for the class for anyone interested

Registered, and looking forward to it.

I booked a two-bed room at the Embassy Suites near the airport, so if there’s another traveler coming to this class that requires billeting and wants to split, please put them in touch with me.

Glad to have you JSantro, looking forward to meeting you. Let me know if you need anything.

Unfortunately, this class is officially canceled. :frowning:

I was really looking forward to attending and meeting other M4C members and apologize to those that made travel plans.
