Was trying to install an apex flat FSS only to find out that I need the newer style larger 1/8 inch sear spring and plunger set up. My go to (G and R tactical) is out of stock. I am finding brownells and midway to be confusing, is currently a different model for thumb safety and non thumb safety models? I need one compatible with the thumb safety.
Iirc, there should just be a universal model for the SHB. You can still use your existing shb, but I don’t remember if Apex is drilling out the old plunger hole to the current specs.
Any M&P with a 1/16th diameter sear return spring or a rev A Striker, noted by its black color, sent to our facility for ANY of our services will automatically get a Sear Housing Block Upgrade to accommodate a 1/8th diameter sear return spring and/or a Modern Replacement Striker for retail value of the replacement item. No Exceptions.
That is interesting as I specifically asked them if they could be of assistance in that regard and they specifically told me I would have to purchase through a vender. And I tried S&W directly and they were about useless.
I am not sure about that. On midway the only one they have in stock: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/546264/smith-and-wesson-sear-housing-block-without-integral-lock-and-magazine-safety-s-and-w-m-and-p-m-and-p-compact-9mm-luger-357-sig-40-s-and-w?cm_vc=ProductFinding says: “Note: This product fits older model M&Ps featuring the internal lock style sear housing block, (not thumb safety style sear housing block).”
And on g and r tactical: there are two separate products listed. one for thumb safety and one without.
To make matters worse, S&W said that even their new SHBs will not fit in models made before a certain date and of course based on my serial number they said it was too close to tell of I had a frame compatible with the new SHB or not.
