Does anyone–ToddG, perhaps–know if we will ever realistically be able to look forward to a .22lr slide being produced for the M&P? For example, something similar to the excellent Advantage Arms slide for the Glock?
I have a nice .22 Kadet conversion slide for my CZ’s, but would sure like to get one for the M&P. A killer combo would be an M&P full-size frame, with a .22lr slide and a threaded barrel (made by somebody like Tactical Solutions).
This is one cool thing about CZ and Glock pistols: with both of them, you can get a .22 conversion option to mount on your favorite .40 or 9mm pistol.
I wish S&W would make their own, or work it out with some company like Advantage or Tactical Solutions to build one of these. Seems like it’d be a easy hot seller: just about everyone wants a way to do cheap practice with their favorite pistol. Admittedly, using a .22lr is never going to give you the same recoil, practice for follow-up shots, and etc., that you get with a centerfire caliber. But still, I want one!!!
I’m not Todd but I did email Advantage Arms and ask them if they had any plans to make a conversion kit for the M&P and they said they did not have any plans to make them.
I would be in for one for my 40c in a heartbeat! Even better if it was threaded for suppressor use in my case. I am hoping for a SHOT show announcement, but not holding my breath either.
I’ll just be hoping that they remember the compact models when/if they make one! As my primary carry piece it would be nice to practice even more and this would help a ton on my ammo cost.
We still have hope that a .22 specific M&P model will be released some time in the next century.
I might be crossing some wires here but i was under the impression that we had CONFIRMED without a doubt that there was indeed one of these pistols on the way…was i wrong?
I also thought there was a confirmation of a .22 M&P pistol (or conversion) from S&W near SHOT. There was no timetable, but with the AR pistol .22 M&P, I would hope that they are coming around with what we want soon.
