Ok, I’m in an area with crap service. I’m trying to use the search function on my Iphone and it must be on my end, but it’s not working. Can someone please throw a link to me about M&P 15-22 accuracy and what I can do to improve it when I get back home?
Have you tried lots of different ammo?
As the supply of 22 is what it is, I have limited options. I’m using white box, Eley?, some foreign brand I have no idea about, etc… What I’m trying to figure out is the variance of ammo. How bad or good a certain type is because I can’t reload 22. This might not be the proper forum for it. Mods move if needed please.
Not in a hurry. It will be months before I get to it but I procrastinate enough on everything else, and if someone has been through this , it would help to look up the info. Thanks for fleshing and asking…
I have never used eley but from what I’ve seen its one of the more accurate 22 rounds.
It is supposed to be top stuff. Just trying to get some ideas when I get back to work on. I’m using a silencer co sparrow. The damn thing is quiet with subs. Like air rifle quiet. Any ideas about the accuracy from people who have used them and walked this road would be appreciated…
Mine is very accurate. 25 to 50 yards it shoots lights out with shitty Remington bulk .22
It opens up a bit at 100 yards but not horrible by any means.
The barrel nut on the m&p 15-22 I have heard can come loose. They sell a special wrench to tighten it. I hear this can cure accuracy issues sometimes with these rifles. YMMV.
I guess it depends on what accuracy you are looking for. I shoot mine with a red dot, so I don’t expect it to shoot like my 10/22 with a scope, and it doesn’t I do agree with above comments about ammo…mine seems to like CCI Stingers and Blazers a lot, but those are not really easy to come by right now.

Thanks for the info guys. Is there an existing thread with more info? I skimmed through a couple but I’m not finding exactly what I’m looking for or I’m just an idiot and need to read it again.
ETA: the accuracy is not bad on mine but I haven’t went prone, used magnification, etc… Kind of wonder what I can expect. This is not for competion but I would like know what needss to be done within reason to get the most out of it.
The first thing to do is try out some different ammo.
I am no competition shooter at all, but I did run a steel plate match with my 15-22 and a T1…once I got the hang of it, and solved some mag issues, I was hitting 5 plates consistently in under 3 seconds. It is fast and light, and accurate enough.
Repeat after me:
“the M&P-15-22 is not an Anschutz”.
It’s more than enough for a Steel Challenge match. But it’s not a 3-position XTC match rifle.
If I want to hit steel at 100 yard with magnified optics, either the steel has to be > 18" or I bring my bolt-action 22.
The best I have gotten out of mine is 2.5 to 3 inch groups at 100 yards. When they start to open up more I run a bore snake through it.
