M-4 upper question

I know this has been wore out. I read the links on it but didn’t find my answer. I have a non M-4 carbine barrel and an upper with the cuts for my latest build.

Is there any reason why I can’t put the M-4 cuts in my barrrel extension with dremel and file? Yes I’m anal but I want them to match regardless of whether they’re M-4 or rifle cuts.

I saw mention of cutting them into the upper but not the barrel extension itself. It appears to me that the one combo that isn’t kosher is the upper with the cuts and the barrel without.

If you do decide to cut your own I’d just use a small round file and take your time. A power tool may cut too fast and too deep then you would be in deep…:eek:

That makes sense. I’ve got a set of nice round files that should work.
