with all R/D bring done by joe public all i say BIG OUCH !
Just my opinion but the
Repr is way overpriced
and lets not mention KAC
Dude You could have a barrett for that much, something with
over twice the range and and over 6 times the E
And frowned upon by many
Don’t forget, the Barrett has 3 times the weight, twice the recoil, and 1/2 the magazine capacity. I think that you confuse the role of the 50 BMG (anti-armor / anti-material) with a semi-auto 308 weapon systems such as the OBR, REPR, and LMT (rapid engagement of multiple personnel). These are very different missions…
I too am sitting on the sidelines with this one. Am happy with my 2 Armalite AR-10s, but have that urge for piston…HELP ME!
I am impressed with LWRC and have 2 of their 5.56 uppers, and there I have what can only be said as good experience unlike others…
What I would like in a SCAR-17 would be a match trigger - maybe then I would buy…
No confussion, if you notice I didn’t mention all semi 308’s only one
my point was $$$$$ and as you so clearly pointed out the capabilities of a barrett…
value
on my first shake down run of ammo 120 rds so far the only trouble i ran in to was -the damn cocking handle reciprocated after app.60 rds -the treaded insert lost it’s hold when fired -it too short the spring loaded plunger so i got an izzy fal handle with a bit of mixing the two and work all is working now ! out of the box -accuracy with irons almost dead nuts on at 100 yds next comes the scope ,MMM?
For those that want a reliable semi-auto .308, the KAC SR25 EM, LaRue OBR, and maybe the LMT are the way to go right now.
I have a reliable semi-auto .308 (actually several). Piston driven too. It’s called a FAL. Minute of bad guy accuracy and combat proven for over 50yrs in third world sh*t holes around the globe. ![]()
Typical.

Yep, and if you get one try to find an Imbel or Springfield SAR48/4800 models.
FAL’s are nice rifles, however, they are not as accurate as more modern designs and parts are not available via the USG supply system.
The valid, independent tests we’ve seen completed on OBR’s by experienced end-users/organizations indicate they are some of the most accurate .308 semi-auto rifles currently available.
I was an SR25 hater for many years due to the unreliable SR25’s we had that were also almost impossible to get replacement parts for, however, the KAC SR25 EM is substantially improved––this is not the SR25 of yesteryear; you can run this beast HARD, like 500-1000 rounds a day in carbine training without it crapping out like the old SR25’s and Mk11’s.
We have less experience with the LMT, however it did very well in the recent UK testing and colleagues in the British military have indicated that it is performing well in the field so far.
Despite LWRCI having an elegant design and offering numerous fine firearms, I would not personally choose to purchase a REPR at this time or recommend that any agencies do so. Several close friends who have had extensive experience with the REPR are reporting significant misgivings about it being ready for prime time until a few more bugs are worked out.
Again, at this time, none of the other AR pattern .308 rifles seem to be as reliable, durable, and accurate as the SR25 EM, OBR, and LMT when pushed hard in demanding conditions…
Doc, are the REPR issues that you mention limited to the feeding problems with SR25 pattern mags and sticky gas regulators? I ask because I’ve not heard about any feeding problems after the mag catch was redesigned.
