LWRC + Customer Service = FAIL?

I’ll share my experience with a company I had a negative experience with. I made a comment on a forum member’s (Jwise) thread on lwrifles.com/forum about how his upper wasn’t getting repaired and sent back to him in a timely manner. Since they locked my acct. over there, I haven’t had the opportunity to go around the lockdown just yet. I recall saying his customer experience as “lip service” mainly b/c he was promised something but never materialized.

At any rate, I had issues with my rifle as well. Like any level headed individual, I tried contacting LWRC directly by phone and email. After several tries using both method I got frustrated so I decided to contact one of the head guys who at that time welcomed questions, etc. I’ll just post what I wrote on the other forum after contact was made w/ Darren Mellors…

Fast forward to 04/30/08. After being advised by Darren Mellors, I sent in just the upper back to LWRC. On 05/21/08, I received a message from Jason to return his call. I did but was not able to get a hold of him so a message was left.

On 05/26/08, I sent Jason an email to inquire about the status of my upper since I haven’t heard anything back from Jason. On 06/07/08, an email was sent to Darren Mellors to inquire about the status since Jason never replied. Forgot the actual time frame but within hours, Mr. Mellors responded advising he would look into it.

Still no word on the status of my upper. I called and spoke to Joe on 06/12/08 who advised the first test fire, failed to fire. Joe added work was done to the upper and another test fire would be conducted on 06/13/08. If it passes, it would be sent back to me.

On 06/17/08, I emailed Joe to get an update on the repair/shipping status. Didn’t receive a reply back. I called on 06/24/08 and spoke to Joe. I was informed a bunch of rifles were ready to be shipped out and mine was included in the bunch. I was told I should receive it within 2 -3 days. On 07/03/08, I called again and spoke to Joe since I did not receive my upper. Joe was not sure why mine was not sent out the last time but would be sent out today. 07/11/08, still no upper.

On a side note, the following are messages from Jesse and Darren on the forum in regards to repairs in general:

6/6/08: LWRC Forums Forum Index » LWRC Products
http://www.lwrifles.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2275&highlight=repair

“Call Joe on Monday so you can get issues a RTV/repair tag. Once received we can have it repaired within a day or two.” - Jesse

7/8/08: LWRC Forums Forum Index » LWRC Products
http://www.lwrifles.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2382

“It is not a safety issue, but we don’t know what you have and from when. Quick fix. Repair and warranty issues should be handled quickly now that we got the place together.” - Darren

Long story short, I finally received the upper a while back supposedly repaired. Never fired the rifle after getting it back. The customer service experience or the lack of it left a sour taste in my mouth so I sold it.

With cash in my pocket, I wanted another one to replace what was sold. Changes were being made on the LWRC rifles so I looked into it. I made a post on the other forum asking if I should give this company another try. Bad mistake I should have known better. There are loyal fans but a handful of these guys are no better than a gestapo who will do anything to defend how great of a company LWRC is.

Mistake # 2. I went ahead and ordered another LWRC rifle due to “changes” made. As always, LWRC over promise and under deliver. Order was placed back on 09/23/08 and was advised the delivery date to be 4 - 6 weeks. My ass! I get a call the other day, 12/2/08 from LWRC saying the rifle is ready to ship. Anywho, my advice to anyone looking into a LWRC product is to be cautious about their so called excellent customer service. It very well might be to a selected few but not all.

1st sentence edited to reflect my experience.

I don’t know why anyone would buy from Leitner Weiss.

So they have their own forum now? That’s funny. I wonder if they flood their own forum with shills.

Shit, I’m still trying to understand Piston Addiction?

Grass is greener!

The money they cost must be…or did you mean weed?

Like a moth to the flame; there is no such company anymore.

lately, there has been a few complaints about dealings with LWRC. they were good to me. allthough originally they sent me the upper i ordered with the old bcg and a blemish in the gas port hole in the barrel. i sent it in and got it back in reasonable time, with the nickel plated bcg this time. all is good now but, sometimes i wonder if they sent the original one i got that was flawed with the old bcg on purpose to try to get rid of it (in hopes i was just a dumbass and wouldnt know) or it was just poor quality control.

on a side note, when i did send it back, i included the receipt for the shipping costs with it. i got it back with no reinbursment. wasnt too happy about that.

i did end up with a quality gun in the end so what can i say. very happy with it. its a m6a2 6.8 srt with a 14.7" barrel with a p/a flash hider.

sorry about your dealings with them. maybe they could respond before this gets out of hand and their rep isnt ruined for good.

Their latest debacle is with the stocks and grips sent out with their complete rifles. Uninformed buyers bought the rifles thinking they were getting CTR stocks and MIAD grips but ended up getting MOEd.

That’s just F*ed up. There is a clear difference between those parts. You shouldn’t sell people what you don’t have.

It is utterly pathetic how a handful of people have managed to make M4C known as the anti LWRC site

In reality, quite a few people here, own LWRC products and are very happy with them.

Whatever grudges are being held are childish at this point.

Don’t have a LWRC or any experience with the company. But, I agree that, to say that “this site has a collective negative experience…” is ludicrous.

So if it is true that they switched furniture on guns that were ordered and did not tell the customers ahead of time is that acceptable? I would say not, unless they made up for it somehow. You should get what they advertise and what you paid for. Pretty simple to me.

That’s not quite the same thing as being known as the anti-LWRC forum is it.

There is a very big difference between providing a forum for customers to relay their experiances. This is a great service, and the community is well served so we understand what is out there and where to spend our dollars. M4C does this better than any other forum IMHO

This is not the same thing as creating a culture that is slanted against a company for personal reasons. For example this thread will be around for anyone to add stupid unrelated, anti-LWRC comments too

However, the thread I created showing off my new LWRC upper a couple of days ago with positive comments was deleted. Why? Who the hell knows?! I went back to update my post with more detailed pics people had requested and it was no where to be found

Now we have

I’ll share my experience with a company this site has a collective negative experience with.

If there’s some unwritten rule about positive LWRC threads I missed than let it be known than I wont bother in the future

I am not sure why you would associate M4C as being anti-LWRC. A few people that like or do not like a company do NOT define an ENTIRE forum.

VB, I checked and I don’t see the thread you’re speaking of. Moderators can’t delete threads; they can only move them to the Trash forum and I don’t see it there. I don’t know what happened to your thread and I apologize if you feel it was deleted.

Please feel free to start a new one.

Believe me, this thread won’t be around for long.

We have a strict policy here on M4C that if you have a problem with a product you contact the manufacture FIRST! Now, clearly the OP has done this and it appears he even went and ordered another one so he’s clearly ranting before he received his replacement.

Normally I would lock this down or put it in the trash but seeing how I just approved an account for Joe from LWRC I will allow his to weight in so that we get both sides of the story.

Original post has been edited to reflect my experience. My bad. Actually, no grudge. Couldn’t voice my opinion on LWRC’s site so here I am. As 2A believers, shouldn’t we allow 1A? Without one, there is no other…

This is interesting, since I sent in my upper almost a month ago for case denting problems…

No word yet.

Recently I cannabilized a trigger/hammer from the LWRC lower that this upper came with, and found the hammer spring appears to be installed wrong compared to my 6920, stag, intarnet instructions etc… :o

The whole free speech thing has been discussed here before as well. esentially if you want to stand on the street corner and talk about LWRC all day you can. But, this is a discussion and moderators have the right to delete or edit material that they deem is improper, disruptive or in bad taste. It is what it is.
