Northwest Tactical is handling the sales of these uppers for LWRC. Got an e mail this morning to send in a $100 deposit to hold an upper. I was one of the folks over on the LWRC site that signed up for one @ $999 a few months back.
Two piece bolt carrier, the old style handguards without sling attachment, no sights. They are apparently using up old parts…smart way to move the rest of their two piece bolts, etc.
I have really enjoyed both my pair of AK74’s and my S&W 5.45 upper. Reasonably accurate, near zero recoil, certainly cheap to feed.
I think these pistons uppers should be interesting to play with.

Maybe LWRC can build something that’ll actually function if they work from a Russian caliber.
Thats too pricey for a training carbine. Why the hell would you want to trick out a training rifle anyway? Do you seriously need a free float rail when shooting surplus ammo?
This is actually a valid concern. Not all that long ago there was zero 5.45 on the streets, and plenty of people starving for ammo to feed their AK74 clones.
One day this cheap surplus ammo will run out, and there will be a lot of 5.45 weapons getting dusty

A 5.56 barrel/bolt would fix that problem though…
NO I don’t work for LWRC or have any affiliation at all with LWRC…other than being a happy M6A2 owner.
I was simply passing on information that I thought some of us would find useful or at minimum interesting.
