LULA for 5.56 AKs?

I did some Googling around here and on the web in general, and haven’t been able to find a loading solution for my SLR-106F other than the old Mk 1 thumb.

Will a regular AK LULA do the trick? Is it such an obvious question nobody has bothered to answer it explicitly?

Yes, the standard AK LULA will work for AKs in 5.56mm and Galils. Presumably it should work for Valmets in 5.56mm, too.

Awesome…thanks!

how do you like your 106?

I’m pleased with it thus far. Bought it used, with pretty much everything on it already minus the optic, so I stuck a T-1 on the Ultimak rail. Whoever owned it before knew what they were doing with it, as far as I can tell… they added an Ultimak quad rail, a G-2 trigger, Vltor offset mount with Surefire, some sort of nicer rear iron that I don’t recognize, and a detachable Daniel Defense sling swivel point. I think the safety is a Blackjack Swift lever too, from what I’ve read on here…it has the tab to allow trigger finger manipulation, and the notch to allow locking the bolt to the rear. I added a Magpul AFG too.

It’s very smooth shooting with the AK-74 brake out front and the 5.56 round…the chambering has advantages and drawbacks. I like not having to buy new cleaning gear and different ammo than what my AR eats, but it also means you pretty much have to buy mags and spare parts from K-Var (and maybe a few other places). Maybe one day I’ll buy a 7.62x39 AK (maybe an Arsenal SLR-107F, since Arsenal makes good stuff), but that depends on my wife and the amount of space left in the safe. (she does like that folding stock…)
