Luepold mark AR MOD 1 6-18x-40

So, I want to use my DD M4 for some longer range shooting past 200 yards and I picked up the above mentioned scope. Now I’m wondering if I should have gone with a lower magnification, like the 2 or 4x. What do you think of this scope for the purpose I stated above?

Next question, and I feel this may seem a bit silly, but does anyone ever mount a second micro red dot to the same rifle they have their scope on for close range applications. I wonder if throwing a laser/light combo on it may be a better idea…

I’m just concerned about sighting in the rifle if I want to go shooting all day and switch between scopes…

I had canted iron sights on it but had to remove them because of the scope being in the way.

I’m not trying to trick this rifle out either. I just want it to perform comfortably at 25 yards for fast tracking and long range at the same time. Any suggestions for a solution?

I’m kind of in the same boat; I had a cheap 3-9 that wasn’t real clear, so I made a huge jump to a 5-20 Trijicon Accupoint. I find myself rarely going over 8x magnification(max distance 300 yards) and even at that distance I get too much movement from my heartbeat.

For me and my target/coyote shooting I’m thinking a 2.5-10 or 3-12 would have been a much better choice at the price point I paid.
As my rifle has zero close range application as built, I can’t really say anything for the offset red dot. I’ve seen a few guys use them at 3gun or multigun matches, most just use a low power variable though.
