Lucid HD7 BDC

:help: I just purchased a Lucid HD7 and was wondering how to use the BDC. I am not here to compare the HD7 to Eotech/Aimpoint/anything I just need some advice. The chevron and BDC recital have lines that are measured in MOA The first line below the center dot is 10 MOA and the second line is at 20 MOA. The visually appear similar to the ACOG BDC which is in yards measured in yards (and a bit more user friendly). I know bullet weight plays a part and I usually 62gn green tip.

I know there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum and any advice on how to translate this to a novice would be appreciated.
Thanks

so my question is can the 10 MOA equate to a distance rather than a angle off center? for example will 10 MOA be approximately 300 yards (or whatever)?

Both. 10 MOA between ticks is 10" at 100 yards, 20" at 200 ect… At what range the bullet crosses the aiming point depends on your starting zero. I am not very smart so I use a 50-250 zero with a single dot Aimpoint. Nothing to think about is easier for me to remember inside 350. Maybe some of the long range shooters will chime in. GH

I also use the 50/250 (KISS principle). The Literature with the scope was a little lacking in fact it was exactly what was posted above. I have never had a BDC scope and was a little lost on how to use it properly, thank you for your info.

follow up question. Is it safe to say that if my zero is 50/250 then the 10 MOA line/dot would be approximately 400 yard point of aim?

With a 50-250 10 moa is probably closer to 475. Over 300 you are spraying and praying with a dot that big anyway!! More rarely means better! Put the 1 dot option up, shoot at big plates and be happy inside 300. Let us know how the Lucid works out. GH

Thank you very much. I fully intend to shoot at much closer ranges, however I wanted an idea of how this thing works. After I put some rounds through it I will give you some updates and know how this low end optic works. I appreciate the feed back.
