LSAT Light Machine Gun=Future M249 Replacement?

I hadn’t heard any news about LSAT for years, until today when I searched them up while doing some research on the Negev NG7. Looks like they haven’t stopped work on their machine gun prototype, and I’m very impressed with the design. I’m not working for LSAT for anything, I’m not trying to sell you guys, and I’m certainly “trolling.” I just want your opinion on whether or not this would be a viable replacement for the M249. The video below demonstrates how light it is, among other things.

I think its a very interesting concept. The smaller feed tray cover seems like it would work better. Just from the video the barrel latching system seems like it would take three hands, not sure about that. And not sure about the rotating chamber bit.

But I do know there are saw gunners out there praying for lighter weapons.

Although it will be interesting to see what the Corps does with its SAWs in the next few years, with the IARs already being fielded and what not.

Already being discussed the correct area.
