Have a new LRB lower. Installing parts kit and the holes for the takedown and pivot spring are too small to fit the spring. Any harm in drilling the holes a tad bigger? Never had this issue before, just curious if drilling would ruin the finish and cause future issues? Thanks, Matt
Figured I should mention it is a PSA LPK being used.
Do the detents fit in the holes?
That should be a quick indicator if the holes are correct.
I’ve had good luck with LRB in the past.
Detents fit, springs do not. I don’t have an issue drilling a hair bigger as long as it wont hurt the lower. Afraid of corrosion issues that’s all.
I used PSA kits before. One time they shipped two selector detent springs instead of the proper pin detent springs. Needless to say the pin detents would go in, I just couldn’t get the springs to go in.
I would make sure all the parts are laid out and organized before you start drilling what might be a perfectly fine lower. You might have too many of one spring and not enough of the other.
They sent you the wrong springs. Either contact them or order more from another source. Needless to say, don’t permanently alter what seems to be a perfectly in-spec lower.
Thanks. I’ve read good things about the lower so just making sure this isn’t common. Maybe I’ll pull the springs out of another lower and mic them to be sure before I go any further.
Seriously,
Don’t fuck your lower over 2 50 cent springs.
These are not hard to replace.
