i found lowa elite desert boots on close out at military gear.com. i have read military moron’s review about ordering a half size up. has this been everyone elses experience as well?
I have the Zephyr’s and think that maybe I would have been better half a size smaller. First pair of aftermarket boots that gave me blisters - I was pretty bummed.
I wear 10.5 Lowa zyphers
For Danner Boots 9.5W
For Salomons 10
For Nike running shoes size 11
And for Merrel trail gloves size 9.5

FYI I wear 11 in almost everything.Except issue boots (Army), those were like a 9.5 or some shit.
all my lowas fit a half size small, so i get a half size up. i’m an 8.5 in most shoes and boots, and am a 9 in lowas. if a boot is too tight, there’s not much you can do about it. if it’s a bit loose, you can tighten the laces, use thicker socks etc. plus, your feet can swell under certain conditions but i’ve never heard of them shrinking. IMHO, better to err on the larger side than smaller side.
My Lowa boots fit just very slightly loose. Definitely could not wear next size up. Fit best with thick socks. Same size as always.
Not the same model you mention though.
With the Zephyr’s I’ve tried on, definitely echo MM’s findings of going half a size up.

Lowa is .5 size up for me as well, but the half size bigger does fit great.

As to what everyone else stated, I need to go a half size up on Lowa footwear.
The Desert Elite is a heavy boot… just know that going in. The Zephyrs feel like wearing a pair of running shoes in comparison. I have 3 pairs of Desert Elites myself, great boot especially when fully kitted out.
Deputy Dan, how has the elite desert boots held up for you? i knew they would be heavier than the tactical type boots but am tired of most brands falling apart after 5 or 6 months wear. want to try a heavier built boot plus they have them marked down almost 100.00 dollars and free shipping.
They wear like iron. I was over in the UK and traded swag for 3 pairs of MOD issued boots (not a lot of call for UK size 13.5 boots). Military Morons write up is spot on. I wore a pair of Thorlo Trekking socks I got at REI when breaking them in… the upper is very stiff. Take the time to break them in and you will be very happy. They hold up very well, and should give you long service.
I also rotate my boots, which helps with service life.
I have a pair of lowa vento mids and my experience is that I am in between sizes so I went with the larger half size and they are fine even in full foot swell.
One note is that lowas are not wide in their standard sizing. They have wide sizes but not in all models. I have experienced toe crowding on hikes with mileage and elevation change.
I’m wearing my correct size on the Zephyrs. I have a small foot and only wear a size 8. Maybe as you get into larger sizes going a half size up is the case.
