Low profile gas blocks

Why aren’t after market low profile gas blocks predrilled to fit the barrel, like the FSB?

I’ve seen some that are. Troy maybe? I can’t remember.

You mean for the taper pins? Those can’t be pre-drilled because they’re not located in the same place for every rifle.

That’s the one that I’m interested in but I don’t think it pins on.

Like Markm said. The barrel and gas block must be drilled together for proper alignment. I’ve never heard of a pre-drilled A2 front sight.

The one I posted appears to only have 1 drilled. I guess that’s why.

That GB is not pre-drilled. What it has is a flat milled onto it to make drilling easier. Even if it were pre-drilled, you still have to use the “pilot hole” to drill through the barrel as an assembly. You cannot just align and pin exisiting holes.

There is no standard for the placement of pins.

The barrel and gas block or FSB is assembled and then drilled together.

Now I understand, thanks.

Geissele’s gas block is predrilled and has detailed instructions on how to do your own pinning.
