Illinois, Utah, Massachusetts, Indiana, Oklahoma are just a few states that I can name off the top of my head that are named after native tribes. Will we need to change them as well?
As one descended from Scot ancestry, I find it offensive that anyone would name a basketball team “Celtics” and have the audacity to pronounce it “Sell-tiks”. They don’t even have the courage to wear a kilt properly regimental while on the court.
As an American, I find it offensive that images of firearms used to secure our liberties are not displayed in a positive light and more predominantly in our pop culture. I find the Micheal Mooreglot to be extremely offensive.
Proof that our tax dollars are being used to subsidize knotted knickers, twisted panties and vaginal sand.
I thought Notre Dame would be offensive to Hunchbacks
I do know of some folks who do not like to be called “Native Americans” because they take exception to being called American. They prefer to be called by the nation they belong to or collectively as “The People”. I also find they are a varied about their opinions as any group
The Army should change the names of its Helicopters. No more Apaches, Chinooks, Kiowas, Black Hawks or Iroquois. Kind of ironic, considering the US Army was partially responsible for the demise/depletion of the Native American population.
I’ll retract my previous team name suggestion and just go with “Washington Comrades”. This would definitely represent D.C. to a tee. Most of the Dems, the administration, and celebrities, would just just fawn over it. All of the people associated with the team, from the trainers to the players, to the coaching staff, to the front office, would be paid the same salary. As to be a shining example of the “Redistribution of Wealth” program. The team logo would be “The Hammer & Sickle”. “Stoly” would be the team beverage of choice. And toilet paper would be rationed in the locker room! Hmmm… I wonder if Russia has trademark protection on the Hammer & Sickle logo!!!
Though I would take some interest in the new team’s cheerleaders.
