As the title states, I’m interested in a DMR rifle, of the SR-25 variety. So my question is, what specs qualify a rifle to be an SR-25? I realize that its a Knights Armament model originally though, shoots a 7.62x51, but what else? Can I just put one together and call it my SR-25 or is there more? Just need a little direction here fellas. Thanks
Knight’s SR-25’s and SR-15’s are not really rifles you can, or should, just build.
They require proprietary bolts, barrel extensions, and possibly bolt carriers, gas tubes, maybe even gas blocks on the newer models.
I don’t know all the details as far as what is and what isn’t compatible with other makers’ parts, but if you are going for a .308 AR DMR type build, there are plenty of options out there. I would recommend to get a factory gun (since .308 AR’s are NOT nearly as standardized as AR-15’s).
