looking to buy my first ar15

hi all!!!
i have some questions reguarding ar15s. im looking to get my first ar and have looked at the smith and wesson m&p15 sport, dpms oracle and sportical and the bushmaster superlight/carbon 15 with the red dot. how important is the forward assist and dust cover? how about chrome lined barrel vs melonite? how well will the carbon hold up vs aluminum? thank you for your help!!

Oh yeah the Carbon 15 is just as good as the Colt but much lighter! It’s made from milspec high tech space age tactical materials and can totally empty drums on a bump fire butstock

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

What are your plans with the rifle? All the rifles listed are bottomfeeders. Better off saving your money, and gathering rocks to throw for any kind of defense…

If you are serious about getting a rifle for defense, look at the offerings from BCM, Colt, Daniel Defense, LMT, and Noveske…

The M&P has front and rear sights. You can just buy a red dot and close the rear MBUS. The other stuff doesn’t really matter.

Cowboy, please take some time to sit back and read through the forums, particularly the “stuck” threads at the top of the AR General and AR Technical forums, there is a ton of information that should help you in your decisions.

As mentioned, all of your initial choices are bottom of the barrel AR’s.
