Looking for rear sights.

Have: Colt 6920, fixed front sight. Carry handle rear, Burris AR-332.

Want: Rear sight to backup/replace Burris.

I’m thinking about the Troy DOA square rear aperture. Anyone out there with experience with this sight? Or any recommendations or pro/con about other rear sights, fixed or folding?

Anything set of sights made by Troy is good to go.

The folders are easier to install on the fly. The fixed requires a screwdriver which you might now have at the time. (or the time to get our of your pocket :slight_smile:

Standard Troy flip up rear would be good. My favorite flip up is the KAC 200-600 micro. I also like the DD fixed.

+1 for the KAC 200-600m micro BUIS, I have a set on each of my AR’s and wouldn’t use any other ones.

+1 KAC, they aren’t cheap… but they work well. I had a set of magpul and wouldn’t recommend them. They are a bit tall at 1/2 inch in down position and require a higher mount for scope/etc.

I have a pair of Matechs that were picked up in Iraq back in the day. Just don’t crank down on them too hard!!:smiley:

How about diamondhead sights? Don’t really see any feedback on this site about them.

What in particular do you guys like about the KAC? Sight picture, durable, best aperture size?

The sight picture is great, they are very low profile as well. The best thing about them by far is that the front sight post itself is extremely thin (the thinnest of all front sights I believe) and is great for more more precise shots/better groups.

  1. I like ease of use (up and down).
  2. I like the use of real estate (small size). As a lefty, when a non-ambi charging handle is used, the small size makes CH manipulation much easier.
  3. I like the durability.
  4. When used in conjunction with micro front. I can establish the zero, then I set the dial to 200 and adjust the front site elevation to give me a 100 yd zero. If I then need the flexibility to move out to longer distances (say 200), it require only a few (know) clicks on the front sight dial.

I have the Midwest Industries flip up rear sight, I like it…got it used for 70 bucks on the EE on ToS…if I was buying a new one I’d get a troy, but with the deal I couldn’t pass it up.

My preference for rear folder is the A.R.M.S. #40L-P Low Profile Sight. It has a notches above the round apertures for faster close 50 meters engagements and also for long range 500-600 meter.

I have a Magpul MBUS on my PSA build. Works just fine for me.

I had a magpul MBUS for a little while. It worked fine.

Now I have a Troy rear folding battlesight. I like it more than the MBUS.

If I had the money I would get a KAC Micro, having never used one, based on everything that I have read

I’ve used most of the BUIS sights mentioned above on 6 ARs. My favorite are the Daniel Defense A1.5 rear sight. +1 on the DD buis, I’ve used KAC, Matech, MBUS and Troy , while all of those served they’re purpose well, a fixed sight like the DD has less moving parts and is less likely to break, so for me it was that simple to switch to all DD.

I like the detachable carry handle rear sight for my 20" with no optics. It’s sturdy & I like the classic styling. On anything with optics, Troy for me.
