I don’t have the ALG but I have 2 PSA EPTs. They are slick, heavy and crisp. Great triggers. That said, as stated above, Hiperfire EDTs are WAY better than those EPTs. If the ALG’s version is anything like the latter, Hiperfire is a much better choice.
If anyone is interested optics planet has the Hiperfire EDT’s for 59.95 (currently 17 in stock):

I have a BCM PNT in a gun recently assembled and it’s every bit of 10 lbs with a lot of over travel. The QMS or ACT are very safe bets if you’re looking for a ready to go, no work necessary improved mil-spec trigger.
Yeah, there is another popular store that had them (has them?) for that price. But I was told I was shilling when I shared the deal. Oh well. Very good price.
I snagged one. Thanks for the heads up.
Well, by the time the OP posted this he had already told me had chosen the ACT, so I suppose this discussion was for some other people. Anyway, I have a EDT-2 in one of my carbines. It’s a good solid choice that doesn’t cost a lot ($60 right now). Mine came out at 4.25-4.5 lbs, pretty crisp, no take up, nice reset. No doubt the ACT and other such triggers are good, more smooth, but I don’t think you’re going to get to the 4 lb range.
I think that probably had more to do with your relatively new membership and low post count.
Look at mine. By this time most folks know I’m to dumb to be a paid shill.
I saw the optics planet sale… Joe Bobs has one too
Joe bobs was/is running a sale price of 60 for the EDT1 or EDT2 trigger, So I posted the same question on AR15.com.
I went ahead with the ACT… Even though its just a Smoothed up version of the stock trigger, that should be all I need. I just wanted to have some other opinions to consider because I started second guessing myself on passing up the EDT at the sale price… Over thinking it I suppose
OK…all’s well.
For $89.00 how can anybody go wrong with the ALG-ACT?
Because it’s a $69 trigger even on ALG’s website.
IMO it’s the best value in an AR trigger.
I guess you missed the $62.10 post I made from Primary Arms website. I have never paid more than $69 for an ACT.

What exactly is shilling? I’m guessing it’s posing as a user but not really being a user and trying to advertised your stuff? (Business?)

Where did you buy the ACT? What deal did you get?
I must have missed the post letting the thread know you had made a decision to go with the ACT

Tom,
I’m using the EDT-2 to standardize my triggers across all my non-precision AR’s I’ve built. Pretty much anything with a 16” barrel or less will get the EDT-2. I’ve had a hodge-podge of triggers in my AR’s. ACT’s, a few CMC’s and LaRue MBT’s. I prefer the slightly heavier 4.5 lb. of the EDT-2 and prefer a single stage in non-precision rifles.

I only have 3 working AR’s so “standardizing” is out of the picture for me. I was looking for a trigger for my 14.5" carbine that was better than the crumby mil-spec I had in it and didn’t cost nearly as much as the 2 G’s SSE-A’s I had in my other 2 AR’s. I did a little research and found the EDT-2. It had some positive feedback so I took a chance. I spent $90 for it at AIM and now they’re $60. I think it’s a pretty nice trigger for the money. Like a mil-spec, it’s rather robust, but oh so much easier to use. EDT, as I’m sure you already know, means enhanced duty trigger…and to me, that’s exactly a fitting description.
What James Madison Tactical? Rainier Arms has them for $95.
