I had a defibrillator implanted in the left side of my chest in May.
I’m not seeking medical advise here, I’m just asking for some input from people to be better informed with some questions before my next visit with my cardiologist (he’s not a gun guy)
He advised me of a few things to avoid, like welding and shooting rifles from my left side, which I’ve followed.
My plate carrier with 10"x12" plates partially covers my defibrillator, and it didn’t feel right with the weight pushing against that area, so I’m going to avoid wearing it anymore for now.
I see that there are some products called Vital Beat and PaceGuard marketed towards shooters or those that play contact sports. They cover up the implant with a hard plastic shell, and spread the impact out around the defibrillator instead of taking it directly.
Do any of you have experiences using these, or similar products?
If you wore armor before, do you still do it now, and does it bother you?
Do you shoot rifles from the same side as your implant?
I imagine that I my insurance will not cover these, since my career does not require a plate carrier
